Blog post - taking action
Our group is planting flowers to help the bees because there aren’t as many bees around anymore. We need bees to pollinate flowers and plants so we can grow things to eat.
The seeds we are using are:
Daffodil bulbs.
Borage.
Thyme.
Mint.
Rosemary.
Marigold.
Thyme.
Dandelion.
Lavender.
We chose these plants because they are things that we know bees are attracted to. We hope that the bees will like these plants and it will encourage more bees to come into the garden.
Big news! We managed to get a 200 dollar voucher from Mitre 10! We are going to use the voucher to buy herbs and flowers to plant.
We know where to put the flowers. We spoke to Bill, the caretaker about where to plant the herbs and flowers. He suggested we plant them behind our classroom because it is an out of bounds area, so the plants won’t get damaged.
Me, Addison, Lucas and Rishi are doing a presentation for assembly about the bees. We want to tell everyone how important bees are to the planet and how they can encourage bees to come into their gardens.
We hope that what we are doing will make a difference to the bees. We think that the bees will love our garden and that it will be a nice, peaceful place for them to be.
